MISSION
Raising Malawi is dedicated to bringing an end to the extreme poverty and hardship endured by Malawi's one million orphans. Co-founded by Madonna and Michael Berg in 2006, Raising Malawi uses a community-based approach to provide direct physical assistance to support long-term sustainability. In addition to building schools and creating educational and psycho-social programs, the organization is creating public awareness through multi-media and worldwide volunteer initiatives.

APPROACH
Raising Malawi has created long-term partnerships with community-based organizations that provide vulnerable children with nutritious food, proper clothing, secure shelter, formal education, targeted medical care, and emotional support. By collaborating and co-creating programs with its partners - Raising Malawi supports dedicated people on the ground and in the villages - the ones who really understand the challenges and the solutions. Through working at the grass-roots level, rather than trying to impose impractical beliefs and methodologies on Malawian culture, real and lasting change is occurring in the lives of hundreds of thousands of impoverished children.
